VMware vRealize Suite Updates

VMware hat in den letzten Wochen seinen wichtigsten Produkte in der vRealize Suite Updates spendiert. Gestern wurde vRealize Automation 7.1 und vRealize Operations 6.3 veröffentlicht. Beide Produkte kommen mit großen Neuerungen und Verbesserungen daher. Vor nicht ganz zwei Wochen wurde bereits vRealize Log Insight 3.6 freigegeben. in diesem Release mangelt es ebenfalls nicht an neuen Funktionen und Ausblicken auf das nächste Release.

Alle Produkte der VMware vRealize Suite machen mit ihren kontinuierlichen Update Zyklen wirklich gewaltige Fortschritte und wachsen zudem immer besser zusammen!

  • IPAM integration framework with ability to deploy machines and applications with automated assignment of IP addresses from leading IP address management systems, with the first integration with Infoblox.
  • Integrated support for Active Directory policies.
  • Custom property dictionary controls to improve property definitions and vRealize Orchestrator actions.
  • Reconfigure life-cycle events by means of event broker workflow subscriptions.

Für mich ist im Tagesgeschäft die Wichtigste Neuerung die verbesserte Event-Darstellung in den Email Alerts. Sehr gut hört sich auch die Agent Upgrade Funktion an, welche aber bisher nur mäßig dokumentiert ist und sich noch beweißen muss.

vRealize Operations Manager Integration Enhancements:

  • Enhanced Alerting
    Alerts sent to vRealize Operations Manager now contain the same metadata as email alerts.
  • Auto Cancel Alerts
    User alerts to vRealize Operations Manager can be set to auto cancel in 10 minutes.
  • Integration with High Availability
    When integrating with vRealize Operations Manager, an Integrated Load Balancer virtual IP is used to ensure high availability.

General Enhancements:

  • More Dashboard Widgets
    Event type and event trend queries can now be saved to the Dashboard page as widgets and included in Content Packs.
  • Event Type Alerts
    User alerts can now be created to alert based on new event types.
  • Syslog Event Forwarding Enhancements
    Syslog Event Forwarding now supports send tags as well as complementary tags.
  • Query API Enhancements
    The query API now supports duration, Content Pack extracted fields, the group-by field, the order-by function, and event trends.
  • Content Pack Upgrade Instructions
    Content Packs now support separate installation and upgrade instructions.

Preview Features:

  • User Impersonation
    Super Admin users can now impersonate another user, allowing the ability to view, edit, and disable another user’s alerts.
  • Agent Auto-Upgrade
    This release includes support for IPv6. You can now use IPv6 addresses in the same way as IPv4 addresses.
  • VMware Identity Manager (vIDM) Integration
    Authentication with vIDM can be configured to allow Single Sign-On.
  • Streaming Support Bundles
    You can use this method to create a support bundle that uses no disk space on the node.
